Margaux

Undoubtedly the world’s most famous wine region, Bordeaux has been growing grapes for almost 2,000 years. The region takes its name from the port city of Bordeaux, roughly translating to “next to the waters”.
Its proximity to the Atlantic Ocean and its various rivers, such as the Dordogne and the Garonne, results in a moderate climate that produces deep ruby red wines. The whisky’s aroma is rich, mellow and complex.
A veritable symphony of fruity and woody notes like baked apples and plums, together with honeydew melon, sweet aged balsamic and a gentle touch of oak. Delicate, perfumed top notes like honey suckle and hints of black tea leaves linger while a splash of water reveals more curious woody notes.
The texture is peppery, tingly and warming, leading to an explosion of ripe fruitiness. Sweet flavours like chocolate ganache, hints of ginger and sweet chilli follow, balanced by tart sour cherries and hints of citrus. The aftertaste is long zesty and woody with roasting chestnuts, eucalyptus and cocoa powder.

Initially distilled in 1995, this single malt whisky was placed into Bordeaux red wine casks in 2004. Over 20 years of finishing, it has blossomed into an intense and complex whisky.

    Corton-Charlemagne

Situated in the valleys west of the Saone, the landlocked region of Burgundy is more influenced by its terroir than any other wine region. Corton-Charlemagne is renowned for the most delicate Burgundy wines, seducing with the delicacy of butter notes, baked apples and flint. Undoubtedly some of the best white wines in the world.
The whisky’s aroma is astonishingly aromatic and perfumed. Hints of pear, honeysuckle and jasmine are accompanied by bolder oak derived notes such as vanilla, almond and leather. A splash of water reveals gentle floral notes,
finishing with the gentlest hint of struck match, as often found in fine white Burgundy wines. The texture is smooth and viscous, coating the mouth with delicious, sweet and spicy flavours, like honeycomb, poached pears, cocoa powder and Christmas cake spices. The sweetness continues with touches of almond marzipan and morello cherries. Its mellow aftertaste reveals
hints leather and clove, along with eucalyptus.

Finished for over 18 years in these casks, this expression brims with notes of jasmine, soft smoke and clove.

    Barbaresco

The other red wine cask finished whisky in the trio. It is also rich and complex, although slightly more structured. This single malt has been created using Barbaresco wine casks from Piedmont, one of the most prominent wine regions in the world.
Surrounded on three sides by the Alps, its name translates to the ‘foot of the mountain’. The tug of war temperature variations produces fine Italian
red wine with complex and powerful aromas. This is the first time Glenmorangie have released a whisky finished in Piedmont red wine casks.
The aroma is deep, powerful, spicy and rich, with notes of toffee, cherries, plums, black pepper and cinnamon. Hints of vanilla, milk chocolate
and baked pears emerge, along with balsamic vinegar. A splash of water brings earthier notes, topped-off by a burst of eucalyptus and mint.
The mouthfeel is huge, spicy and slightly drying with a myriad of complex flavours. Starting with a chocolate sweetness balanced by hints of leather,
mint-flavoured toffee, warming spices like ginger, nutmeg and clove, finishing with candied orange peach. In the long, mellow aftertaste, there are
hints of chestnuts, oak tannin and aniseed.

Initially distilled in 1996 and re-racked in 2005 into Barbaresco red wine casks, the result is an extraordinary single malt whisky with a deep and rich flavour profile.

„Of all my experiments, the whiskies in our Pursuit of Passion Wine Cask Collection are among my most prized and delicious.“
